The Canine Museum's new online exhibition introduces you to the journey of the Karelian Bear Dog, rooting back to the early 20th century.

The Karelian Bear Dog is one of Finland's five native breeds. Originally from the Karelia region, this large game dog is now used for stopping the prey in elk and bear hunting.

The online exhibition available at the Canine Museum website offers comprehensive information about the history of the breed and also features items and stories from the Canine Museum's collections.

The Canine Museum is a collection maintained by the Finnish Kennel Foundation, which can be explored through artefacts, photographs and stories. Established by the Finnish Kennel Club, the Finnish Kennel Foundation aims to protect and preserve the heritage of the dog hobby. The foundation also supports the welfare of dogs and dog keeping in Finnish society.
