The Finnish Kennel Club, together with the other Nordic Kennel Clubs, is implementing a new dog show type, the Nordic Certificate Show. The first Nordic Certificate Shows are held in 2018.

The Finnish and the Swedish Kennel Clubs introduced together a new dog show type, the Nordic Certificate Show (NORD), at the NKU/AU meeting April 13th. The Board of the Finnish Kennel Club has taken a decision of principle, according to which the Finnish Kennel Club is implementing the Nordic Certificate Shows together with the other Nordic countries.

The first Nordic Certificate Shows are held in 2018. The transitional period, during which the show type is tried out, lasts until 2020. For Nordic Certificate Shows organized in 2018–2020, a fee is not charged from the organizer.

All the International and NORD Shows for 2018 are re-applied for using new form, in which the application for the NORD Shows is included. The more precise numbers for International and NORD Shows in 2018 are published when the new show applications are submitted to the Finnish Kennel Club during the coming fall 2016.

The NORD Show cannot be a FCI International Show. Both Nordic Certificates and International CACIBs cannot be awarded at the same show. The current Nordic Champion title is replaced by the new one. The rules for the Nordic Champion title are the same in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark:

  • The dog must have the national show champion title in the country where the dog is registered
  • Three Nordic Show Certificates from three different Nordic countries, awarded by three different judges. At least one of The Nordic Show Certificates must be received after the age of 24 months.

In Iceland, the dog needs three Nordic Certificates awarded by three different judges for the Nordic Show Champion title. An Icelandic dog must have the Icelandic Show Champion title but it can receive all three Nordic Certificates from Iceland.

During the transitional period 2018–2020, the old and the new rules for the Nordic Champion title can be used in parallel. From January 1st 2020, only the new regulations apply.
