Helsinki Mayor Jussi Pajunen is the official patron of the FCI World Dog Show 2014. The FCI World Dog Show is the high point of the international dog show year. The Finnish Kennel Club is organising the event at Messukeskus, Expo and Convention Centre Helsinki on 8-10 August.
The Finnish Kennel Club was given the honour to organise the world's most significant dog show during its jubilee year. The Finnish Kennel Club celebrates its 125th anniversary in May.
“This is a great honour for the Finnish Kennel Club. We last organised the “world championships” of dog shows in 1998 and our work proved a major success. Since then, there has even been talk of a “Helsinki standard,” says Show Committee Chairman Kari Järvinen.
The theme of the Finnish Kennel Club's jubilee year, Good living with dogs, will be a visible part of next August's major event and its programme. More detailed information about the programme will be published as August draws closer.
A host of other championship events will be held in conjunction with the FCI World Dog Show 2014. The world titles in obedience, heelwork to music and freestyle dog dancing as well as junior handling will also be contested on the same weekend.
The Finnish Kennel Club expects more than 20,000 dogs from 50 different countries to participate in the FCI World Dog Show 2014.
